Welcome to our FAQ huddle!

Quick Pass Answers

  • Our new-look game gear and club apparel can be purchased at our Uniform Open Days, held at the clubrooms at Morris Reserve before each season starts. You can also order online through our uniform store. When available, all uniforms can be collected from the clubroom by appointment.

  • Our training tops are a popular new addition to the club uniform, introduced by popular demand! While they’re not mandatory, many players love wearing them—and they definitely add to the team spirit.

  • Head over to our uniform shop to choose your game day gear—either the Game Dress or the Game Shirt option. Players must wear official game gear to take the court. If you choose the Game Shirt option, pair it with plain black shorts of your choice. Please ensure they have no pockets, studs or zippers that could catch on other players.

  • At West Coburg, we want every child to feel comfortable, confident, and included on court. If you or your child have cultural or other uniform-related needs, please reach out to us—we’re more than happy to support and accommodate where possible.

  • WCNC apparel isn’t a must for coaches and team managers, but it’s a great way to feel part of the team and show your club pride.

Uniform and Apparel

  • Player fees for West Coburg Netball Club are managed via the NetballConnect portal and includes two main components:

    • Netball Victoria Membership (Annual) – Variable rate depending on players age. ($70-$99) This compulsory fee includes insurance and is required for all players to participate in competitions.

    • West Coburg Netball Club Seasonal Fees – Paid each season (aligned with school semesters), this covers competition entry, court hire, umpire payments, training equipment, WCNC utilities, and general club administration.

    Seasonal fees are communicated before the start of each season however budget for around $250.

  • At WCNC, we’re proud to be a true community club—and that means keeping things affordable for families. NetSetGO fees have two parts:

    • Netball Victoria Membership – A once-a-year fee that covers insurance and registration.

    • WCNC NetSetGO Program Fee – Just $50 for the full 8-week program. That’s great value for great fun!

  • By representing West Coburg Netball Club, all players and parents/guardians must agree to the club code of conduct. These can be found on WCNC Policy page.

Registration & Fees

  • Training takes place at our outdoor courts at Morris Reserve. Each team is allocated a specific day and time. Depending on availability, sessions may be held on the netball court or the shared basketball court alongside another team.

  • Welcome to our club community! Games at the Parkville State Netball Centre are played on Saturdays. Younger age groups usually play earlier in the day, with older teams scheduled later.

    It’s an indoor centre with plenty of parking and two cafés for your coffee fix. Games run for about an hour—4 x 10-minute quarters with 1–2-minute changeovers (so no time for halftime oranges!). Fast-paced and fun from start to finish!

    15&Under, 17&Under and Open teams play on Tuesday and Thursday nights

  • Here’s your Game Day Checklist!

    ⏰ Leave with plenty of time to arrive at least 30 minutes before your game.

    🕒 Remember, game time = whistle time, so allow time to find your court and warm up.

    Remove all jewellery and watches (or tape earrings if newly pierced).

    ✂️ Clip fingernails—short and safe is the rule!

    👱‍♀️ Ensure long hair is tied back

    🔴 Get pumped and prep your “Go Redbacks!” team chant!

  • West Coburg Netball Club provides each Redbacks team—via the team manager—with all essential training and match-day gear, including balls, game and training bibs, a first aid kit, and a water bottle holder (yes, it fits Frank Green bottles!). Equipment is returned at the end of each season for replenishment.

    Coaches also have access to additional training equipment, conveniently stored at Morris Reserve.

  • Your team manager will let you know if training is cancelled—usually due to wet weather or extreme heat.

    Game cancellations are updated in real time via the Netball Connect app, so be sure to keep an eye on it for any changes.

  • Parkville Netball Competition is run out of two locations: 

    • State Netball Centre (SNC), 10 Brens Drive, Parkville, 3052 

    • Riverside Golf and Sports Centre,75 Newsom Street, Ascot Vale, 303

    The game day and time depends on age, grade and team. All Saturday Junior teams play at the State Netball Centre (SNC).

    Merri-bek Competition

    Merri-Bek Netball Competition is location at:

    • Charles Mutton Reserve,Tyrrell Crescent, Fawkner, 3060

  • By playing in the Parkville Association Competition and Merri-Bek Association Competition, West Coburg players become eligible to try out for their Representative sides. Information about the Representative (Rep) programs is available from the respective Competitions.

Games & Training

  • Every junior team needs a Coach and a Team Manager to make game day magic happen — and that could be you! If you’re a parent, carer, or passionate supporter, we’d love for you to get involved.

    Team Managers must be over 18 and hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC). Coaches over 18 also require a WWCC.

    We’re here to support you every step of the way — join the team behind the team! Redbacks run on awesome volunteers like you. 🕷️🏐

  • A Coach inspires, trains, and guides players to develop their skills, teamwork, and confidence—helping the team grow stronger on and off the court!

    If this sounds like something you’d love to give a go, we’d be excited to hear from you—get in touch!

  • A Team Manager keeps the team organised and on track—handling communication, coordinating game day logistics, and supporting coaches and players so everyone can focus on playing their best!

  • Redbacks junior teams usually have 8–10 players. For more details on how teams are formed, check out our Team Selection Policy found on our Policy Page.

  • West Coburg Netball Club keeps a waiting list for umpiring opportunities, which depend on the number of teams entered each season. If you're keen to get involved, head to our contact page and fill out the web form. Make sure to include your netball experience, any qualifications, and previous umpiring experience. We'll be in touch when a position becomes available!

Officials

  • NetballConnect is a digital registration and competition platform used for Netball Competitions like Parkville and Merri-bek.

    NetballConnect is used by West Coburg Netball Club administrators, team managers, players, parents/guardians and spectators.  Netball Connect provides live netball scores, game fixtures, draw and ladder updates, and real-time news and updates from West Coburg Netball Club and competition organisers.

  • When you join West Coburg Netball Club, you will be provided with a link to NetballConnect to register and pay any applicable club or Netball Victoria Membership fees.  New Users will be required to create an account with NetballConnect.

    Our level coordinators and team managers will advise on how to navigate and add the correct competitions. 

  • NetballConnect can be viewed in a browser via this address (https://registration.netballconnect.com/login) or it can be downloaded as an app (recommended) It is free for download from the App Store or Google Play.

  • To be visible as a scorer in NetballConnect, you must add the current competition to your profile each season.
    Here’s how to do it:

    More (bottom right 3 dots) → My Profile → Add Competition → Type:
    Parkville and Select: current year, current season (Autumn/Spring) - Parkville Netball - State Netball Centre

    Once added, your name will appear as an option for scoring duties.

  • Organisation Name in NetballConnect is West Coburg (PNC)

Netball Connect

Incidents / Concerns / Processes

  • If you have any questions or concerns on game day, please speak directly with your team manager as your first point of contact.  

    Both Parkville or Merri-bek competitions also have an office if you need assistance.

    Important:
    Please do not approach umpires, opposition players, or officials from the opposing team regarding any issues. All concerns should be raised through the appropriate channels (i.e., your team manager).

  • At West Coburg Netball Club, we are committed to providing a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all members. If you witness or experience any incident, hazard, or concern, we encourage you to report it so we can address it promptly and appropriately.

    Who can I speak to?
    You can raise your concerns directly with your Team Manager or Age-Level Coordinator. They are your first point of contact and can assist you with any immediate issues or questions.

    How can I lodge a formal complaint or report an issue?
    After contacting the your TM and Age-Level Coordinator, you may contact the Club President directly via email at president (at) west coburg nc (dot) com (dot) au. (email protected from bots not our netball community)

    How are complaints handled?
    West Coburg Netball Club respects your right to lodge a complaint regarding any decision, behaviour, or process related to the Club. We are committed to handling all complaints in a confidential, professional, and timely manner.

    West Coburg Netball Club is an affiliate of Netball Victoria and will defer to their complaints process where applicable.

  • Q: What should I do if I have a child safety concern at West Coburg Netball club?

    Your concern is important, and we take child safety very seriously.

    1. IF A CHILD IS IN IMMEDIATE DANGER?

    Call 000 and ask for the police.

    Always prioritise the child’s immediate safety.

    2. WHAT IF IT’S NOT AN EMERGENCY BUT I’M CONCERNED?

    If you're worried about a child’s safety, wellbeing, or treatment at the club, please raise this in the following order: (as appropriate to the circumstance)

    • Team Manager

    • Age/Level Coordinator

    • Child Safety Officer: child safety (at) west coburg nc (dot) com (dot) au

    • Club President: president (at) west coburg nc (dot) com (dot) au

    They will take your concern seriously and respond appropriately.

    3. WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I MAKE A REPORT?

    The club will follow child safety policies, which may include:

    • Speaking with the child and/or parents (if appropriate)

    • Consulting with Netball Victoria/Netball Australia

    • Contacting authorities or support services

    All reports are treated confidentially and in line with our legal obligations.
